This is HUGE!

I love it when people go to the Rez or hear about it, get a vision for what can happen, and then take the imitative to make it happen. Our friends, 8 Lives Spent, a rock band from Winchester, VA have been strong supporters of the Lakota people for a long time. Last year they made incredible sacrifices to come to Cincy and play at Rezonate '08. They have not only donated their time and talent but have donated 2 custom designed Dean guitars to Backpacks for Pine Ridge. These guys just don't stop giving ... and they're not stopping yet. On January 10th they have put together a benefit concert at the Virginia Brewing Company with all of the proceeds going to purchase electric space heaters for the Lakota people. If you are anywhere near Winchester, please come out and see this show. It's going to be a night of great music and fun and all for a good cause. Backpacks For Pine Ridge will be there to start things off with a presentation about the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Prayer Request

There are some challenges ahead for the 2009 trip to Pine Ridge and I've been praying, thinking, trying to figure out how to handle this. If you're the praying kind and feel so inclined I would really appreciate your prayers on this.

Auction - Can You Help?? No Money Required!

Hey guys,

I am writing because we have an opportunity before us and you might be able to help - no, we're not asking for money ... at least not this time ;) but you may have something or even better, know someone who has something that can help.

If you've been to the Rez with us then you are aware of the "hole" that is next to the church building in Allen. This hole is not only an eyesore but it really presents a safety issue with the kids. Fred H. has it on his heart to do something about that. Don't ya love it when someone gets a vision and starts to make things happen. :) Fred is organizing a crew of a few skilled men/women to go out to the Rez a week before our scheduled mission trip to begin work on "the hole". Our hopes and plans are to make take what is a problem there and make it into something very useful - an amphitheater that could be used for services of all sorts. This will cost around $12,000 - $15,000 to do - we want to do it "right" and build it in such a way that at some point they could put a ceiling on if they choose to.

That's a lot of money. A whole lot of money. So, we will be having an auction in the early part of 2009 to help raise money for this project. We are also looking into some others ways to fund this project but we simply aren't going to come up with it all in one place. So, if you have any items or know of anyone who might have some items they would be willing to donate to this auction, please let us know ASAP. We are interested in all sorts of items but really need a few big tickets items to put in the auction. Feel free to pass this email along to anyone you know that might be interested as well.

If you can help out in this way, shoot me back an email or see me at church.

Amber
